Most of us joined the League of Women Voters because we wanted to “do something” to contribute to our community and make a difference. It can be overwhelming to follow everything that is going on, and know where to start.

One Time Tasks (OTT's) are activities that members can agree to try once, when asked. There are many tasks that are part of the League of Women Voters of Leelanau County's operations. Below are some examples of OTT's.

See something you'd like to try? Sign up here!

  • Poster Distribution: Members can be on a substitute list, or share/rotate with other members. Contact Christi Bardenhagen to find out more about this task.

  • Hospitality: Members can assist with:

    • set up/clean up for Public Forums, Annual meeting, and other events.

    • Greeting members and guests at Public Forums, monitor sign up sheet, and offer name tags

    • Baking cookies for Public Forums or Member meetings

  • Call New Members to welcome them to the League. Meet members for coffee or lunch to get to know them.

  • Call Current Members who may be inactive to check in with them and encourage them to participate. Meet members for coffee or lunch to get to know them.

  • Call Members who have not renewed their membership. Ask them if they want to renew their membership.

  • Attend a government meeting as a silent observer in our Observer Corps (with a seasoned Observer):

    • County, Township, Village, Library, and School Board meetings

    • Share/rotate with another member to cover monthly meetings

    • Complete a simple online survey of the meeting you attend.

  • Action Alerts: Respond to alerts that are posted on our website, in the Voter, or in eblasts re: issues that come from the LWVUS, LWVMI, or the Advocacy Committee.

  • Write Letters to the Editor in your own name, not from the LWVLC.

  • Write Thank You Notes, Get well or Sympathy cards to members.

  • Order LWV Name Badges and arrange delivery.

  • Add your name to the list of willing OTT volunteers.

  • Sign up to attend monthly Zoom meetings of the LWVMI Membership Network and share your notes with the LWVLC members/Board and Membership Engagement Committee.

  • Attend a New Member Meet and Greet gathering to welcome new members and folks from the public interested in learning more about the League.
