Goals and Key Actions for LWVLC in 2026-2027

Called the "Local Program," each local League meets to discuss and choose the focus for their League in the upcoming year. The following is the exciting year ahead for LWVLC.

1. Strengthen Voter Engagement & Civic Participation

We will expand nonpartisan voter services to increase informed participation in elections.

Key Actions:

• Host candidate forums and public information sessions

• Increase voter registration and turnout efforts

• Promote Vote411 as a trusted resource

• Educate the public on election security and processes

2. Advocate on Key Community Issues

We will research, educate, and advocate on issues impacting our community.

Key Focus Areas:

• Attainable housing

• Equitable immigration practices

• Civic education

• Emerging local and regional priorities

3. Promote Transparent & Accountable Government

We will strengthen transparency and public trust in local government.

Key Actions:

• Expand the LWVLC Observer Corps

• Monitor and report on local government meetings

• Increase community awareness of local decision-making processes

4. Support Early Childhood Initiatives and Family Well-Being

We will advocate for policies and funding that support young children and families.

Key Actions:

• Support early childhood millages

• Partner with community organizations

• Educate stakeholders on long-term community benefits

5. Engage the Community Through Public Forums

We will serve as a trusted convener for civic dialogue.

• Host timely, nonpartisan public forums

• Facilitate discussions on critical issues

• Ensure inclusive and accessible community engagement
