When the League of Women Voters of Macomb County presented the LWVMI’s “Resisting Disinformation” presentation in January, 2025, members of the audience gave them so much feedback, Terry Gibb and Kathy Poore knew they had to do something surrounding the challenge of disinformation. That was the beginning of their journey to produce three disinformation videos that help people recognize and stop sharing disinformation.

The Clinton Township supervisor was in the audience that night too, and he gave his permission for them to meet with Clinton Township cable TV (CTTV) to see if they could work together to produce short videos aimed at helping users of social media stop the spread of disinformation. It took time, but CTTV gave the two free rein. With the expert advice of Sue Ellen Christian of Western Michigan University, input from the LWVMI co-presidents, and the blessings of the LWVUS, three powerful disinformation PSAs were born.
