LWVLC Children's Voting Booth Engaged Kids in Elections & Voting

On June 20, 2026, the League of Women Voters of Leelanau County engaged families who visited the Children’s Voting Booth at the Parenting Communities Street Fair in Lake Leelanau with interactive election and voting activities. From voting in a real booth to announcing election winners, kids experienced the fun and meaning of being American voters.

Young voters had the opportunity to register, cast a ballot in a real voting booth, receive an “I Voted” sticker, and watch the votes be counted just like in a real election. Through hands-on play, children learned about voting, elections, and civic participation in a fun and engaging way.

Older children were especially encouraged to participate as Poll Workers, Election Inspectors, and Vote Counters. They helped sort and count ballots, verify results, and announce election winners. It was a great opportunity for students to practice leadership, responsibility, and teamwork while learning how elections work.

It was a great day to celebrate the importance of every voice and experience democracy in action!
