Presenter: Dillon Geshel, the Interim Executive Director of the Michigan Library Association


Dillon Geshel will talk about the MI Right to Read coalition, as well as federal funding threats to our libraries in Michigan, and the outlook for state funding for libraries as well.


Dillon Geshel is the Interim Executive Director of the Michigan Library Association (MLA). Prior to his current role, Geshel served a term as President of MLA's Board of Directors, where he helped develop the Mi Right to Read coalition and chaired the organization's Intellectual Freedom Task Force during its inaugural year.


The MI Right to Read opposes any attempts to ban books from Michigan libraries based on content subjectively deemed inappropriate. Its purpose is to educate the public as well as propose and support legislation that protects First Amendment rights and intellectual freedom this year.
